Meet Our Staff

  • Pastor Bernie Hong

    LEAD PASTOR

Pastor Bernie has served as the pastor over Martus since October of 2010. His conviction is to preach, teach, and counsel others to engage with the holiness and beauty of Christ, enjoying His presence in every facet of life. His passion is to equip the saints for the work of ministry, and his focus is on expository preaching, exegetical teaching, and nouthetic counseling rooted in Scripture. He and his wife Debbie enjoy opening up their home for fun and fellowship whenever possible. He enjoys premium coffees, and is always ready for a nice Pour-over or Americano over good conversation.

  • Kevin Kim

    YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY LEAD

Kevin has been a member of Mijoo Peace Church since 2018 and joined Martus in 2024. As a PK, he has been immersed in Christianity and church life from his earliest memories, and at the age of 12, while singing the praise song Marvelous Light by Charlie Hall, he began to believe that Jesus died on the cross for his sins and triumphed over death, securing ultimate victory for all who believe. The greatest blessings of his life include his wife, local church, pastor, and family. Kevin is currently an Assistant Professor of Music Director of Instrumental Studies at The Master’s University and resides in Santa Clarita.

  • Pastor Sam Yang

    YOUTH PASTOR

  • Daniel Kim

    ELEMENTARY DIRECTOR

Daniel came to saving faith in 2003 after a personal journey of searching for purpose and lasting joy—ultimately finding it in Christ alone. He currently serves as the Elementary Director with a heart to love and serve children as Jesus did, pointing them to the hope of the gospel. Outside of ministry, Daniel works as an aerospace quality management systems auditor. He and his wife have three wonderful daughters. He enjoys good coffee, music, and is currently pursuing biblical counseling certification.

  • Edwin Kim

    WORSHIP LEADER

Edwin never imagined he would be a worship leader, having been a shy kid with no experience with music, let alone singing praise. Reflecting on his journey, he sees 1 Corinthians 1:25–29 working in his life. In Edwin’s words: “God deliberately chooses the weak so that it would be plain to everyone that God did all the work and thereby gets all the glory. God is magnified when He lets me, the weak child, ‘help’ lead His people in worship.” He is currently working as an engineer and is married to Cathy—together they have a daughter and son.
